Kolkata Metro to run special midnight services for IPL spectators

• Kolkata Metro to run special services for IPL T20 matches starting from Esplanade to Dakshineswar and Kavi Subhash
• Metro booking counters to remain open at Esplanade only for the sale of Smart Cards and tokens
• Metro Railway to run reduced services on April 14 on the occasion of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar's birthday, with 234 services instead of 288

The Kolkata Metro is set to run special services for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) T20 cricket matches. The special trains will start from Esplanade and will cater to the fans traveling to Dakshineswar and Kavi Subhash. The move has been welcomed by fans who have been eagerly waiting to catch the live action of the popular cricket tournament.

According to Kausik Mitra, the chief public relations officer of Kolkata Metro Rail, the special trains will start from Esplanade at 12:15 am and will reach Dakshineswar at 12:48 pm. For Kavi Subhash-bound spectators, another special train will start from Esplanade at 12:15 am and will reach Kavi Subhash at 12.48 am at night.

It is noteworthy that the Metro booking counters will remain open at Esplanade station only for the sale of Smart Cards and tokens. Trains to either direction from Esplanade will stop at all stations on their way.

Apart from the special services, the Metro Railway has also announced that it will run 234 services (117 UP and 117 DN) on April 14, which is a Central Govt. declared Holiday under NI Act, on the occasion of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s birthday. This is a reduced number of services compared to the usual 288 services, but it will still provide adequate transportation options for commuters.

The first service of the day will start at 6:50 am from Dumdum to Kavi Subhash, with no changes in the timings for the other services. Services in the Green Line (East-West) and Purple Line (Joka-Taratala) will remain unchanged as well.
